This technique focuses on the application of cryogenic cooling in two different fields of garment making machine parts, namely
- Increase the durability of clothing cutting knives
- Increase the durability of sewing needles for clothing
This technique begins with the purchase of cutting knives and sewing needles. Then, the materials underwent cryogenic treatment. Cryogenic processing is the process of converting the austenite (malleable) state of materials to the martensitic (hard) state. So that the treated materials have increased wear resistance, increased toughness and reduced brittleness, but are not too hard. This results in an extension of the durability of cutting knives and sewing needles. We estimated the lengthening of the life of cutting knives and sewing needles by comparing treated and untreated knives and treated and untreated sewing needles were used in the garment industry.
Nowadays, the evolution of the textile scenario is focused on producing a better quality product at a lower cost. With the above theme, people in the industry are competing for better ROI. The technique also demonstrates the savings made by the industry with the implementation of cryogenically treated knives and sewing needles in the parts of garment machines. Regarding the concept of quality at a lower cost mentioned above, we are halfway with this technology. That is, the lower production cost by the increased life of knives and sewing needle parts has been demonstrated. And statistical analyzes on the performance of machine parts were installed in a garment industry with cryogenic knives and needles. In addition, our study can be directed towards the application of this process to other parts of textile machines; which can be cryogenically treated to extend their lifespan and also to improve their lifespan. With this in mind, the sewing machine and the metal parts used in the garment industry have been introduced as a preview of this treatment as the second part of this technique.
