Punjab provides 1.33 Lakh Agri Machinery to farmers at subsidized prices to remove stubble without burning – Agriculture Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal


NAWANSHAHR: Punjab Agriculture Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal said here today that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, led by the Punjab government, is making every effort to eradicate stubble in the state without burn it. Under it, up to 1.33 lakh of agricultural implements have been made available in the state through grants to farmers.
He was addressing a rally in the village of Wajidpur here today after demonstrating Smart Seeder (sowing wheat without setting fire to the stubble) while driving a tractor himself. He said that this machine is made with the dual technology of Super Seeder and Happy Seeder in Punjab and it will prove to be a boon for chaff disposal. He said the smart seeder, which can work with a small tractor, will also be subsidized.
The price of Smart Seeder machine, a mixture of Happy Seeder and Super Seeder machine, is around Rs 2, 30, 000. This machine is becoming the choice of farmers due to its small tractor and low diesel consumption. This machine sows an acre in an hour at 5.0 to 6.0 liters of diesel per hour.
Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Rural Development and Panchayat and Affairs NRI Dhaliwal said the performance of this machine was demonstrated today in the presence of administrative and departmental officials as well as the President Union of Doaba Kisan, Kuldeep Singh Wajidpur, and other farmers so that farmers can be an integral part of the government’s awareness campaign against stubble burning.
Addressing the farmers, Minister Dhaliwal said we must replace the traditional crop rotation of paddy and wheat and switch to alternative crops like sugar cane, maize and pulses to avoid the air getting polluted and water runs out in Punjab. He said Punjab had sacrificed its natural resources to fill the country’s food bowls. He said now is the time to save our state’s water as well. He said maximum area should be given over to sugarcane. He said that the government has paid all sugar cane dues and also increased the SAP as per the wishes of the farmers.
He called on the farmers to fully support the government’s efforts to save the environment and the water table of Punjab from further depletion so that the agriculture-based economy of Punjab state can also be sustained.
